Elderly Farmer in Jaunpur Dies a Day After Wedding, Family Calls Death ‘Suspicious’
Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh: A 75-year-old farmer from Kuchmuch village in Jaunpur died unexpectedly just a day after marrying a 35-year-old woman, triggering suspicion and controversy within his family.
The deceased, identified as Sangru Ram, had been living alone since the death of his wife a year ago. With no children and only distant relatives, he had recently expressed his desire to remarry, despite villagers advising against it. On Monday, he tied the knot with Manbhavati, a 35-year-old woman and mother of three from her previous marriage. The couple solemnized their union with a court marriage, followed by a small temple ceremony.
According to Manbhavati, the newlyweds spent the evening talking after the ceremony. However, by morning Sangru’s health deteriorated suddenly. “He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” she told locals.
The incident has unsettled the village community. Sangru’s nephews, who live in Delhi, have raised doubts over the circumstances of his death. They have demanded that funeral proceedings be halted until their return and are calling for further scrutiny.
For now, the exact cause of death remains unknown. Authorities have not confirmed whether a post-mortem examination or formal police investigation will take place. The matter continues to stir debate in the village, as relatives await clarity on whether the death was due to natural causes or something more sinister.
