A chilling Drishyam-style murder has come to light in Gujarat’s Jamnagar, where police have uncovered skeletal remains believed to belong to a man who had been missing for nearly two years. Investigators allege the victim was murdered by his wife with the help of her alleged lover and another associate before being buried 12 feet beneath a factory floor and concealed under a thick layer of concrete.
For almost two years, the victim’s family believed he had relocated to Australia for work. According to police, this carefully crafted story delayed suspicion until persistent questions from relatives exposed inconsistencies that eventually led investigators to one of the most sensational Drishyam-style murder cases reported in recent years.
Australia Story Kept Family in the Dark
The victim, identified as Jignesh Mavadiya, was reportedly declared missing by his relatives after they lost all direct contact with him. Throughout this period, his wife, Prithvi alias Bhumiben, allegedly maintained that Jignesh had moved to Australia for employment and that his company prohibited frequent communication with family members.
Initially, the explanation appeared believable, and relatives accepted that overseas work commitments prevented him from speaking regularly.
However, the story began to unravel when one of Jignesh’s cousins planned a visit to Australia and requested his address and contact information. According to investigators, Prithvi repeatedly avoided sharing any details, raising suspicion among family members.
Unable to ignore the inconsistencies any longer, Jignesh’s brother approached police and lodged a missing person’s complaint on July 26.
Drishyam-Style Murder Plot Uncovered
The police investigation quickly took a dramatic turn.
During questioning, investigators allegedly uncovered evidence pointing towards Prithvi, her alleged former boyfriend Nilesh Kachhatiya and another associate, Balveer Verma.
Based on the information gathered, police reached an industrial shed in Jamnagar where excavation began. Officers first drilled through nearly one foot of reinforced concrete before digging almost 12 feet underground.
Their search led to the recovery of skeletal remains believed to be Jignesh’s.
Authorities have sent the remains for forensic examination and DNA testing to officially establish the victim’s identity.
Police said the excavation was conducted after recreating the alleged crime scene in the presence of the accused.

Victim Allegedly Poisoned Before Burial
According to investigators, the alleged murder took place on the night of May 31, 2024.
Police claim Jignesh was invited to an industrial premises under the pretext of attending a liquor party. During the gathering, he was allegedly served alcohol laced with cyanide.
Investigators believe the poison killed him shortly after consumption.
Following his death, the accused allegedly dug a deep pit inside the factory premises, buried the body, filled the pit with soil and later covered the entire area with a thick concrete slab to permanently hide the evidence.
Officials say the elaborate concealment bears similarities to a Drishyam-style murder, where evidence is meticulously hidden to mislead investigators for years.
Extramarital Affair Suspected as Motive
Police suspect the crime was driven by an alleged extramarital relationship between Prithvi and Nilesh Kachhatiya.
Investigators believe the two conspired to eliminate Jignesh before creating the narrative that he had shifted abroad for work.
Authorities are now examining financial transactions, digital communication records and other evidence to determine whether the murder was pre-planned over a longer period and whether additional individuals had knowledge of the alleged crime.
Three Arrested, Probe Continues
Police have arrested Prithvi, her alleged lover Nilesh Kachhatiya and Balveer Verma.
They have been booked under charges including murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.
Officials say forensic reports will be crucial in strengthening the prosecution’s case and confirming the identity of the recovered remains.
Meanwhile, investigators continue gathering scientific and documentary evidence to establish the complete sequence of events.
The Drishyam-style murder has shocked residents across Gujarat, not only because of its alleged brutality but also because of the sophisticated attempt to hide the crime for nearly two years. While comparisons with the Bollywood thriller have dominated public discussion, police maintain that the case will ultimately be decided through forensic evidence, witness statements and the ongoing investigation.
