3-Year-Old Girl Abused at Delhi School, Bus Driver Arrested

The accused, identified as Vikas, had reportedly been working as a school bus driver at the school for around eight months. According to the preliminary investigation, he allegedly befriended the child by offering her chocolates before sexually abusing her on multiple occasions.

The case came to light after the child’s family noticed injury marks and became concerned about her wellbeing.

Child Identifies School Bus Driver

According to police, the incident came to the family’s attention on the night of August 19. When the child’s mother questioned her about what had happened, the girl reportedly referred to a “bad uncle” at school who used to give her chocolates.

As the child could not provide the man’s name, her family approached the school administration and sought help in identifying the person.

On August 24, the child was shown photographs and CCTV footage from the school premises. Police said she identified Vikas as the person she had described.

Following the identification, the school informed the police. An FIR was subsequently registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police arrested Vikas from the school premises and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse.

CCTV Footage Under Investigation

CCTV footage from the school has become a key part of the investigation.

Police said preliminary examination of the footage showed Vikas carrying chocolates while moving around the school premises. Investigators are examining his movements to establish how he allegedly gained access to the child and whether there were other incidents that had not been reported.

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly followed the child when she went towards the bathroom. He reportedly offered her chocolate before taking her to an area beneath the stairs, where the alleged abuse took place.

Police said their preliminary findings indicate that the child was allegedly abused on four occasions.

Investigators are now reviewing available footage to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine whether the accused may have approached other children in a similar manner.

Bus Driver’s Phone Seized

As part of the Delhi school abuse case, police have also seized the accused’s mobile phone for forensic examination.

Investigators reportedly found several videos on the device showing Vikas feeding chocolates to young children. Police are working to identify the children appearing in those videos and determine the circumstances in which the recordings were made.

Authorities are also examining whether the videos have any connection to the alleged abuse of the three-year-old girl or whether they point to possible interactions with other children.

The phone evidence could therefore become an important part of the ongoing investigation.

Police Probe Possible Other Victims

The investigation is not limited to the allegations involving the three-year-old girl. Police are also trying to establish whether the accused may have approached other children at the school.

Officials are examining CCTV footage, electronic evidence and statements from the child’s family and school authorities. The children identified in the videos are also being considered as part of the wider inquiry, with counselling being conducted as necessary.

The investigation will determine whether the evidence supports allegations involving additional children.

Case Registered Under POCSO Act

The accused has been arrested and the case is being investigated under the POCSO Act, India’s legal framework for protecting children from sexual offences.

The police investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are examining the available CCTV recordings, the seized mobile phone and other evidence while recording statements connected to the case.

The allegations have also raised concerns about the safety of young children within school environments and the importance of monitoring access to children by school staff and transport personnel.

For now, police are focused on establishing the full sequence of events and determining whether the evidence points to any additional victims.

The arrest of the bus driver follows the child’s reported identification of him from photographs and CCTV footage. As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to rely on electronic evidence, school surveillance footage and statements to establish the facts of the case.
