Sensex Today: A day after touching record highs, Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened flat on Tuesday. The indices, however, closed marginally higher.
Oil Prices
International oil prices remained lower after the Federal Reserve pointed to a more patient stance on rate cuts. The oil supply concerns due to tensions in West Asia are offset by signs of weakening demand, especially from China. Brent crude oil price is trading 0.16 per cent lower at 83.43 while WTI oil futures closed 0.33 per cent high at 79.75. WTI didn’t trade on Monday due to public holiday.
Asian Markets
Asian markets traded in mixed territory as Chinese markets advanced whereas indices of other key economies fell. Japan’s Nikkei is trading 0.19 per cent lower at 38,399.57 while South Korea’s Kospi traded 1.29 per cent lower at 2,646.62. CSI 300 added 0.5 per cent after a break due to Lunar New Year. US markets remained closed for trade on Monday due to Presidents Day.
