NEW DELHI: India reported 12,249 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 4,33,31,645 on Wednesday.
According to figures published on Wednesday morning by the Union health ministry, the number of active cases in India increased by 2,374 instances, reaching 81,687. Of all infections, the active cases make up 0.19 percent.
The number of Covid-19-related deaths in India has increased to 5,24,903 since the pandemic’s onset in 2020, with 13 additional deaths officially reported in the past 24 hours.
According to a press release from the ministry, there have been 9,862 coronavirus recoveries in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries since the outbreak to 4,27,25,055, with a national recovery rate of 98.60%.
The weekly positivity rate is 2.90 percent, compared to the daily positivity rate of 3.94 percent.
3,10,623 coronavirus tests were performed across the nation in the previous 24 hours. India has so far performed 85.88 billion tests in total.
196.45 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been distributed in India as part of the national immunisation campaign since the start of the pandemic there.
In December 2020, India’s Covid-19 total has surpassed the one-million-dollar threshold. In May of last year, the nation passed the depressing milestone of two crore, and in June of 2021, three crore. In January of this year, the four crore threshold was crossed.
