Rajasthan Bride Disappears With Gold and Cash on Wedding Night; Matchmaker Under Scanner
Kishangarh, Rajasthan – What was meant to be a joyous beginning turned into heartbreak and humiliation for a family in Kishangarh after their newlywed bride vanished on her very first night, allegedly fleeing with gold jewellery and cash. The bizarre case has now triggered a police investigation, with both the bride and the matchmaker missing.
Marriage Fixed Through a Matchmaker
According to the groom’s relatives, the marriage had been arranged by a local matchmaker named Jitendra, who charged Rs 2 lakh to finalise the alliance. The bride, a resident of Agra, was introduced as a suitable match and the wedding was conducted in Jaipur with all traditional rituals — complete with music, sweets, and the usual festivities.
As part of customary traditions, the groom’s mother gifted her daughter-in-law gold jewellery during the ceremonies. The family believed they had welcomed a new member with warmth and trust.
The ‘Customs’ Excuse
But the celebrations came to an abrupt end on the very first night. When the bride and groom retired to their room, she reportedly told her husband, “We cannot sleep together tonight; it is against our customs.” The family accepted this reasoning, unaware that it was a clever pretext.
By 3 a.m., the truth was revealed. When the groom stepped out to fetch water, he returned to find the bride missing. The almirah, which contained cash and jewellery, had also been emptied.
Panic and Search
The family rushed to search local bus stands, railway stations, and nearby areas but found no trace of her. It soon became clear that the disappearance had been pre-planned. A relative, Rakesh, filed a formal complaint with Madanganj police, who have since registered a case.
Matchmaker Also Missing
Investigators noted that the matchmaker, Jitendra, who had facilitated the wedding, has also gone missing, raising suspicion of his direct involvement in the fraud. Police teams are now tracing both the bride and Jitendra to determine whether this was an organised con targeting vulnerable families.
Community Shock
The incident has created a stir in Kishangarh, where locals are calling it a stark reminder of the risks families face in trusting strangers during arranged marriages. Authorities have also urged people to exercise caution, verify credentials, and conduct background checks before finalising alliances through intermediaries.
As police widen the investigation, the groom’s family remains shattered — a wedding that began with joy has ended in betrayal, leaving them with financial loss and emotional scars.
