For the second year in a row, Dublin has been named Europe’s favourite weekend destination, beating out Rome, Paris, and Barcelona.
Dublin was named “Best Weekend Destination” by Global Traveller readers at the magazine’s 11th annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards.
Every year, Global Traveller readers vote on their favourite destinations, hotels and restaurants, airlines, and cruise lines.
Readers choose only one city as their favourite, with Dublin collecting the most votes for the second year in a row.
“This accolade, as voted for by the readers of Global Traveller magazine, gives Tourism Ireland another great hook to continue to promote the island of Ireland in the United States and elsewhere around the world as a’must see’ destination,” said Siobhan McManamy, Interim Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, as quoted by schengenvisainfo.com.
According to McManamy, the recognition has been vital in promoting Dublin and Ireland as key tourist destinations, particularly in the critical American market.
