A Murder That Shocked Pune
The murder of 26-year-old Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a dramatic turn, with his fiancée and her alleged lover now accusing each other of being the mastermind behind the crime. The case, which has shocked Maharashtra, has also left both families devastated and searching for answers.
Fiancée and Lover Trade Accusations
Ketan Agarwal died on June 18, 2026, after falling into a deep gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune. Police believe his death was not an accident but a carefully planned murder. The two main accused in the case are Ketan’s 19-year-old fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary. Both are currently in police custody as investigators continue to gather evidence.
According to Pune Rural Police, the relationship between the two accused has deteriorated during custodial interrogation. Initially, investigators believed the pair had acted together, but they are now giving completely different versions of events and trying to shift the blame onto each other.
Siya Goyal has told investigators that Chetan Chaudhary was the person who planned the murder. She claimed that she was unhappy about her upcoming marriage to Ketan and had repeatedly asked him to call off the wedding. However, according to her statement, Ketan refused to end the relationship because their marriage had been arranged by their families and preparations for the wedding were already underway.
On the other hand, Chetan Chaudhary has denied being the mastermind. He has alleged that Siya pressured him into participating in the crime and that he only acted because she insisted on getting rid of Ketan.
Police Suspect a Carefully Planned Crime
Despite these conflicting statements, police officials say the evidence collected so far points mainly toward Siya Goyal. Investigators reportedly believe that she played the leading role in planning the crime, while Chetan may have helped execute it.
The investigation has also revealed what police describe as a disturbing history of failed attempts to kill Ketan. According to investigators, Siya and Chetan first met at a Diwali party in late 2025 and soon developed a close relationship.
Police believe Siya feared the embarrassment and social consequences that could result from breaking off her engagement. Instead of cancelling the wedding, investigators allege that she began considering ways to eliminate Ketan.
On May 31, during a visit to Lohagad Fort, Siya allegedly noticed Ketan sitting near the edge of a cliff and first thought about killing him there. Investigators claim that another attempt was made on June 14, when she allegedly tried to push him off the cliff. However, Ketan survived the attempt, and Siya reportedly covered up the incident by shouting about seeing a snake and portraying the push as an accidental stumble.
Four days later, on June 18, police believe Ketan was pushed into the gorge and died from the fall.
Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Families Left Devastated by the Tragedy
The case has left Siya’s family shattered. Her father, Praveen Goyal, was reportedly admitted to the intensive care unit after learning about his daughter’s arrest. Speaking to the media, he expressed deep sorrow and said that if Siya is found guilty, she should receive the harshest punishment permitted by law, including the death penalty.
He said the family had no idea that Siya was involved in another relationship or that she was unhappy about the marriage. According to him, they had recently spent nearly ₹50,000 shopping for a planned pre-wedding trip to Bali and believed she was looking forward to her future with Ketan.
Siya’s mother, Pooja Goyal, has also said that whoever is responsible for Ketan’s death should face severe punishment, even if it turns out to be her own daughter.
Meanwhile, Ketan’s family continues to mourn the loss of a young man they describe as educated, caring, and respectful. His uncle, Vijay Agarwal, has demanded speedy justice, saying Ketan had simply agreed to the marriage to honour his parents’ wishes.
Investigation Continues
Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary remain in police custody until June 29, while investigators work to determine who planned the murder and who carried it out. The final truth behind Ketan Agarwal’s death is expected to emerge as forensic evidence and witness testimonies are examined in the coming days.
