OnePlus 15 Review: A Safe Yet Surprisingly Strong Flagship for 2025

The OnePlus 15 has officially arrived in India, and if you’re wondering whether this is the flagship upgrade worth spending on in 2025, you’re not alone. With rising smartphone prices and fierce competition from brands like Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi, choosing the right flagship is harder than ever. To help you decide, we’ve broken down our detailed OnePlus 15 review into a clear, easy-to-understand 9-point summary covering everything from design and performance to display, battery, and cameras.

At first glance, the OnePlus 15 looks like a predictable, safe update—cleaner design, bigger battery, refined software. But the more you use it, the more you realise it isn’t just another routine refresh. Some choices are smart and user-focused, others feel surprisingly conservative, and a few decisions raise eyebrows about the brand’s direction.

So, is the OnePlus 15 the best flagship buy of 2025? That depends on how you prioritise performance, endurance, and overall experience. Here’s the complete breakdown.

Price and availability

The OnePlus 15 gets a ₹3,000 price hike compared to the OnePlus 13, but initial launch offers bring it down to ₹79,999 — essentially the same as last year. It’s available via Amazon and other official retail channels.

Now that pricing is out of the way, let’s dive into the 9-point review.

OnePlus 15 Review: The 9-Point Breakdown

1. Cleaner, minimal design—modern but with one controversial change

OnePlus has dropped its iconic circular camera module in favour of a neat square island, giving the phone a more modern and understated look. The violet matte finish and flat frames feel premium, and at just 8.1 mm thick, the device feels surprisingly sleek despite the heavier battery inside.

The only big disappointment? The removal of the beloved Alert Slider, a trademark OnePlus feature. Its replacement, the Plus Key, works well but lacks the intuitive charm long-time users are accustomed to.

2. Slimmer body, bigger 7,300mAh battery—impressive engineering

One of the phone’s standout achievements is how OnePlus fit a massive 7,300mAh battery into such a slim frame. The weight distribution is excellent, and the phone doesn’t feel bulky in hand.

However, the combination of a slim body and powerful chipset results in noticeable heat generation during heavy use or stress tests.

3. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers top-tier benchmark scores

The new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is a powerhouse, and the numbers prove it.

  • Geekbench multi-core: 9,629

  • AnTuTu: 3.6 million — the highest score yet on a flagship

Everyday performance is effortless, apps fly open, and multitasking feels instant. The only caveat is sustained thermal performance, where limitations are visible under extreme loads.

4. Excellent gaming performance — with some thermal compromise

OxygenOS 16 keeps gaming smooth and responsive.

  • Genshin Impact at High settings (30fps) ran well

  • At 60fps, lowering graphics was required

  • BGMI performs best in High Performance Mode

  • 3DMark Wild Life Extreme: 82% stability, confirming minimal GPU throttling

During long sessions (1.5–2 hours), heat buildup does impact frame stability, but for normal gaming, the experience remains extremely solid.

5. Sharp 1.5K AMOLED display—good, but not the best at this price

The 6.7-inch AMOLED panel is bright, vivid, and smooth, with support for up to 165Hz refresh rate. But in real use, the phone mostly runs at 120Hz or 30Hz.
While the display quality is excellent, two decisions feel like downgrades:

  • OnePlus moved from QHD+ to 1.5K

  • HDR peak brightness has reduced by 900 nits

Most users won’t notice dramatic differences, but display enthusiasts will.

6. Battery life is among the best this year

Battery performance is where the OnePlus 15 shines the brightest.

  • 15+ hours of continuous use in Balanced mode

  • 1.5 days of usage for typical users

  • Heavy gaming or binge-watching reduces this to ~10 hours

  • 120W fast charging fills the battery in just 25 minutes

This is easily one of the strongest battery performers of 2025.

7. Cameras are dependable, but not groundbreaking

The main camera captures detailed, natural, and colour-accurate photos in good lighting. Low-light shots are decent, though not industry-leading.

Telephoto performance is where the phone feels slightly underwhelming — zoom shots are usable but lack the crispness expected at this price.

The system is reliable but doesn’t introduce any major leap over previous models.

8. Clean software, but the OnePlus identity feels diluted

OxygenOS 16 maintains the clean, minimal interface OnePlus is known for. Smooth animations, minimal bloat, and consistent performance make the software a pleasure to use.

However, the UI now feels more inspired by iOS than the original OxygenOS identity. And while the Plus Key is functional, it doesn’t replicate the instant feel of the Alert Slider.

9. A dependable flagship that focuses on stability over surprise

The OnePlus 15 doesn’t try to reinvent anything. Instead, it refines what already works:

Strengths:

  • Excellent performance

  • Outstanding battery life

  • Clean software

  • Premium design

  • Fast charging

Weaknesses:

  • Thermals under extreme stress

  • Telephoto camera could be better

  • 1.5K display instead of QHD+

  • Alert Slider removal

For most users, the OnePlus 15 will feel like a balanced, mature, and dependable flagship. For tech enthusiasts expecting massive innovation, the device may feel a bit too safe.

Final Verdict

The OnePlus 15 is not the most daring phone of 2025 — but it’s one of the most practical. If you want excellent battery backup, strong day-to-day performance, clean software, and premium build quality, this is an easy recommendation.

Power users will love it. But if you want a game-changing camera or cutting-edge display tech, you may want to explore alternatives.
