India at Asian Games: IND vs PAK in Focus
September 21 promises a packed day of action for India at the Asian Games, with the India-Pakistan rivalry taking centre stage in both men’s and women’s table tennis. Alongside the high-profile clashes, Indian athletes will be involved in several medal events across shooting, swimming, soft tennis and other disciplines.
The shooting range will be among the first major venues to draw attention. India’s Parth Rakesh Mane, Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil are scheduled to compete in the men’s 10m air rifle qualification, followed by the individual final. The trio will also be involved in the team event, making shooting one of the key medal opportunities for India during the morning session.
Skeet competitions will also begin early, with Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill and Mairaj Ahmad Khan competing in the men’s event. Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan will represent India in the women’s skeet qualification. Both events also have team medal contests on the schedule.
India vs Pakistan in Table Tennis
The India-Pakistan rivalry will return to the spotlight in table tennis. India’s women’s team will face Pakistan in a Group F contest at 6:30 AM, while the men’s team will meet Pakistan later in the day at 3:30 PM.
The two matches are among the most anticipated team events on Monday and will add extra attention to an already busy schedule for Indian athletes.
India’s women’s hockey team will also be in action, taking on Indonesia in their fourth pool-stage match at 9:30 AM. In kabaddi, India’s men will face Japan at 9:45 AM, while the men’s badminton team begins its campaign against Bangladesh at 11:30 AM.
Suchika Tariyal, Sumit Set for Key Contests
Individual events will also provide several important moments for India. Suchika Tariyal will face Singapore’s Teo Hui Hoon in the women’s traditional -60kg MMA semifinal at 8:30 AM.
In boxing, Sumit will begin his men’s 70kg campaign against Thailand’s SinSiri Bunjong in the Round of 32 after 8:30 AM.
Wushu will see Roshibina Devi take on Most Shika Khatun in the women’s Sanda 60kg 1/8 final. Aryan will also compete in the men’s Sanda 56kg 1/16 final against Shahzada Safi.
Swimming and Soft Tennis Medal Opportunities
Swimming will provide another busy stretch for the Indian contingent. Rishabh Das and Srihari Natraj will compete in the men’s 50m backstroke heats, while Akash Mani and Heer Gitesh Shah are scheduled for the 50m freestyle. Danush Suresh will compete in the men’s 100m breaststroke heats.
India will also feature in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay, with Sajan Prakash, Aneesh Sunil Kumar Gowda, Vedaant Madhavan and Dhakshan Shashikumar in action.
Soft tennis pair Jay Meena and Aadhya Tiwari have three group matches against Cambodia, Mongolia and South Korea. If they progress, they are scheduled to play the quarterfinal, semifinal and gold-medal match later in the day.
