Apple’s September 9 Event Set for Major Launches
Apple is preparing for what could be one of its biggest September events in years, with the company expected to unveil its next-generation premium iPhones and potentially its first-ever foldable iPhone.
The event, titled “Surprise and shine,” is scheduled for September 9 at 10:30 pm IST at Apple Park. The keynote will also mark a significant moment for Apple as new CEO John Ternus is expected to take the stage for the first time since succeeding Tim Cook.
While Apple has not confirmed the complete product lineup, reports and leaks have provided plenty of clues about what could be announced.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Could Lead the Show
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be the main attractions at the event.
According to reports, the premium models could feature Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip, improvements to battery performance and major camera upgrades. Apple has not officially confirmed these specifications.
One of the most notable camera rumours involves a variable-aperture main camera, reportedly exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Such a system could allow greater control over the amount of light reaching the camera sensor, potentially improving photography in different lighting conditions.
The Pro models are also expected to retain 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes. Apple could reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, while rumours of under-display Face ID have also circulated, although this feature remains unconfirmed.
First Foldable iPhone Could Be the Big Surprise
The most anticipated announcement could be Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
After years of speculation, Apple is reportedly preparing to enter the foldable smartphone market with a book-style device similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.
Leaks have suggested that Apple could market the device as an “iPhone Ultra” and focus heavily on its hinge design and reducing the visibility of the crease on the internal display.
The foldable iPhone is also expected to carry a premium price. Reports have suggested a starting price above $2,500, which would make it considerably more expensive than Apple’s existing iPhone models.
The launch could also signal a change in Apple’s traditional iPhone release strategy. Reports suggest the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air could be delayed until spring 2027, leaving the September event focused primarily on premium devices.
New Apple Watch and AirPods May Also Debut
Apple could also use the event to introduce new wearable and audio products.
The Apple Watch Series 12 and a new Apple Watch Ultra are reportedly among the products expected to appear. Rumours point to upgraded health-tracking capabilities, while Apple could potentially bring back a ceramic case option.
New AirPods could also be announced, with reports suggesting additional health-related sensors and other improvements.
However, more ambitious features, including camera-equipped AirPods, are reportedly still further away and may not feature at this event.
Apple’s broader smart-home ambitions could also receive some attention. A home hub featuring a display has been rumoured, although this remains considerably less certain than the new iPhone and Apple Watch models.
How to Watch Apple’s September 9 Event
Apple’s September 9 keynote begins at 10:30 pm IST on Wednesday. The company is expected to livestream the event through its official website, Apple TV app and YouTube.
For Apple fans, the biggest question remains whether the long-rumoured foldable iPhone will finally become reality.
If Apple unveils both the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and its first foldable iPhone, the September 9 event could represent a major shift in the company’s smartphone strategy. The event may also establish a new direction under CEO John Ternus.
Until Apple takes the stage, however, most details remain based on leaks and reports rather than official confirmation. The keynote will reveal which of the rumours become reality and which remain speculation.
