Rahul Gandhi’s Gen Z Call Sparks BJP’s Strong Counterattack Amid Vote Theft Row

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s appeal to India’s Gen Z to step up in the fight to “save the Constitution and protect democracy” has triggered a sharp political exchange with the BJP, which accused him of hypocrisy and dynastic politics.

Fresh from his press briefing where he alleged large-scale voter manipulation through centralized software in Karnataka and Maharashtra, Gandhi took to social media to rally students and young voters.

“The country’s youth, the country’s students, the country’s Gen Z will save the Constitution, protect democracy, and stop vote theft. I will always stand with them,” he posted.

The Election Commission has already dismissed Gandhi’s allegations as “baseless.”

Nepal Context Adds Weight

The timing of Gandhi’s post is being seen as significant, coming just days after Nepal witnessed violent Gen Z–led protests that toppled the KP Sharma Oli government. The unrest, which left over 50 dead, saw ministers’ houses torched, Parliament ransacked, and leaders beaten in the streets. The reference to Gen Z thus carried added political charge in India.

BJP’s Stinging Reply

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, a longtime critic of Gandhi, countered strongly, arguing that India’s Gen Z would not back dynastic politics or corruption.

“Gen Z is against dynastic politics. Why would they tolerate Rahul after Nehru, Indira, Rajiv and Sonia? They are against corruption – why won’t they drive you out?” Dubey said in a social media post.

Escalating further, Dubey suggested Gandhi should “prepare to leave the country” if Gen Z anger boiled over, warning that young Indians might push for a Hindu nation, echoing trends in Bangladesh and Nepal.

Former Union minister and BJP leader Anurag Thakur also weighed in, accusing Gandhi of trying to incite unrest.

“While the Election Commission is functioning without bias, Rahul Gandhi is busy weakening democracy, misleading citizens, and trying to create a situation like Bangladesh and Nepal,” Thakur alleged.

Larger Political Battle

Gandhi’s “vote chori” allegations and his Gen Z outreach mark the latest escalation in the Congress-BJP slugfest ahead of crucial elections. While the Congress positions the youth as defenders of democracy, the BJP is framing the same generation as a force against dynastic politics — turning Gen Z into a new battleground in Indian politics.
